Serendipity
One of my favorite things about our travels is those unexpected fun things that happen along the way. We were feeling tired and a little bit down after our harrowing drive, and the long day (we had had to get up at 4:00 a.m. to make the only flight we could get after Ryan Air canceled
| The restaurant, Ristorante La Buca |
our original one), as Taormina is so dead at this time of year, and it was super cold. Most restaurants were shuttered. We finally just chose one of the open ones as we were hungry and it was 8:30. It turned out to be a good choice; there were two entertainers singing all the cheesy Louis Prima songs you could remember. Next to our table was a family, which we initially took to be Italian, as they were singing along to everything, so we kind of joined in, too. Later on, the family got ready to leave and still had a half bottle of wine, which they came over and offered to us. It turns out they are from Washington, D.C.
